  Historic area of Cottonwood. Picturesque and tidy downtown worth the visit. Stroll past historic buildings, enjoy the view, try local cuisine, and catch unusual finds in the shops. There are antique shops, galleries with handmade art, a general store (every old western town needs one of these!), wine tasting, cafes, historic hotel, a spice & hot pepper shop, clothing, restaurants, bars, and friendly locals. At one end of the street is the river and nature trails.
  There's parking and the area is very pet friendly. A real gem in a scrubby, cactusy, pleasantly warm landscape with an impressive, mountainous background.
